Uintas hiking day trip (easy)

  • 27 Jul 2024
  • Mirror Lake Hwy (Route 150)

Registration is closed

Trip leader is Dan Potts.

Note :that another option will be a trip with less hiking in the Uintas with Brian Sheets.

We will make a short hike (1/4 mile on good trail) down to a large meadow to fish its meandering, small stream for various small alpine trout species (where we will be practicing “catch-and-release”). Later hike, as a group, to a nearby lily-padded natural lake to fish for brook trout (where harvest is optional – limit, four fish).

That day’s feeding periods are for only one hour from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm,and later in the day starting at 4:45 pm and lasting till sundown.

We will operate as a ‘buddy system’ to help each other. Obviously folk can leave for home or a meal, on the way at any time.

Meeting time will be 10am. Location will be given in a follow-up email when you register.

NOTE: Purchase of required 'US Forest Service Byway Pass'

is easier online or in Kamas before heading up the road! If you have a National Pass already, you are good to go.
