BFF, High Country Fly Fishers (Park City’s TU Chapter), and Stonefly Society (Salt Lake City’s TU chapter) partnered to sponsor this crazy “Freeze You’re A$$ Off” day trip to the Middle Provo. Nearly forty hardy wintertime fishers showed up at the covered pavilion at River’s Edge camping resort at Jordanelle Dam. Attendees came from BFF, High Country, and Stonefly, as well as Heidi Lewis’ Utah Women Flyfishers. Everyone enjoyed piping hot chili (beef and vegetarian varieties) with all the fixin’s prepared and served up by Pappy/BFF, hamburgers and hot dogs grilled by Justin Grover/Stonefly, and special treats provided by generous individuals.
It was a beautiful, albeit dang cold, day to meet up with old friends and fishing buddies, make some new ones, and catch some fishes. We fished both before and after lunch with teeny tiny midge imitations. People had plenty of successes. And no one fell victim to the parking lot’s extreme slipperiness.
Many thanks to each of you for coming to the event and bringing your friends and club members with you. Special thanks to Pat Ronneburg for orchestrating such a fun outing for everyone and to River’s Edge for donating the use of their pavilion. And, huge thanks to those of you who helped with cooking, set up, paying for food, helping others, inviting others, digging the gazebo out of ice and snow, and so on!
