Blacksmith Fork - May 8, 2026

Twelve of us fished the Blacksmith Fork River from Hyrum, Utah.  It was a clear and beautiful day with lots of fish seen in the river and not many others fishing on a spring Friday in the canyon.  We met at the Blacksmith Fork River Trailhead and headed to various pull-outs along the river, meeting for lunch near Pioneer Campground.  Fortunately for us, they opened the pit toilets as we arrived!

Not everyone caught fish, but probably over half caught 3 or more mostly (all?) browns, including a 18"-19" brown by Ron up near Hardware Ranch.  Not an easy river, but lots of fish to be had if you know what they are interested in taking.
