Scofield, Huntington and Cleveland reservoirs March 16th
We had a club trip to Scofield Reservoir with Huntington reservoir as a backup. The outlet of Scofield is the Price River and was stated as being available for those wanting a moving water option.
There was a scouting trip the week before. At that time Scofield was slow and windy so the scouts drove to Huntington. It was close to ice-off so we decided to start the formal Club trip from there. With the highly variable Utah weather at this time of year, the scheduled trip timing had winter storm warnings at higher elevations. The group then decided to move the meeting place back to Scofield. The thinking was that if there was descent weather, we could then move on to Huntington.
A few of us drove to the Scofield for the meet-up, but most people drove directly to Huntington. Once there, there were 9 club members fishing. Ice was 20 to 30 feet away from shore. Fish were biting. Most caught fish, using a midnight fire fly with intermediate or floating line. Some had better luck, with two fishers reporting 18 fish caught between them. After lunch, much of the group moved to Cleveland Reservoir, a 15-minute drive from Huntington. As the weather moved in, the group was exposed to snow, rain, and wind so the group ended the trip by late afternoon.
Overall a good trip, just bad timing on the weather.
Thanks to everyone that attended.
