Hams Fork river
Leader is Jim Banas
We will be fishing the Hams Fork river below Via Naughten reservoir. This is a wade trip.
Target Species: Rainbow, lesser tiger trout.
Drive time: 2.25 hrs., 140 miles. Link here: Lake Viva Naughton Dam - Google Maps
Level of fishing difficulty: Relatively easy fishing including wading in water just off the bank.
Access: Paved road with the last 0.5 mile good dirt road. There is a private section we will be fishing that requires a small fee ($10?) of cash deposited into a box on one of the fishing sites.
Accommodations: There are a number of motels in Kemmerer and Diamondville, 20 minutes (15 miles) from the river. There is primitive and dispersed camping on Lake Viva Naughton and private campgrounds in Kemmerer.
Weather: 7,100' elevation. Likely to be considerably cooler than SLC.
Terrian: Normal public access with walk and wade to access river.
Wading difficulty: Easy, but banks tend to be very silty with holes and ruts in the bank -be careful hiking the banks! Stream bottom is generally fine gravel and cobbles, but silty areas are common.
License: Wyoming fishing license.
