BFF members along with HCFF worked with the Scouting of America Fly Casting Clinic with Salt Lake City Scout Troop #1262.

 This activity was again held in August on the 11th with a follow up fish out up Mirror Lake Highway in the Uintas at Lost Lake.   We met at Willow Park Pond in Murray for casting training and some quick fishing at the pond.  

Approximately 15 -18 young men and women attended the event along with 8 - 10 fly fishing advisors who attended from Bonneville Fly Fishers and from High Country Fly Fishers.  

The afternoon's activity began with a knot demonstration given by Fred Jepson, followed by a casting demonstration with individual attention given to all who came to learn.  After the demonstration was completed, enthusiasm bubbled over as the kids waited patiently for a fly to be tied on to their lines.  Some of the kids who had attended previous classes were on the water and catching fish right away.  It looked as if they hadn't missed a beat from last summer's edition.  

After the second hour passed, all students and some of the advisors were reluctant to put away the rods ending the session.  Many of these Scouts went up into the Uintas to participate in a overnight camping adventure and fish out.  A lot of fun was had by all and even a few fish were caught on Saturday morning the 15th.  

The Scouts were highly complementary of the experience and the time all the volunteers put in to help them succeed with this event.
