Provo River Delta Grand Opening- October 25-26, 2024

The event was a screaming success. And the booth which was shared between HCFF and BFF was a big hit with event goers who were interested in the flies our 4 tyers produced between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Many of these flies went home with people who stopped by the booth to have a look.

Paula Trater thanked Bruce Pope and BFF and HCFF for our participation in Delta GO celebrations (a.k.a., The Grand Opening of the Provo River Delta) held October 25th & 26th. Bruce has worked closely with Paula throughout the Delta’s restoration in many roles. BFF and HCFF clubs cut many, many willow starts from the Middle Provo that were transplanted in the Delta. And, now, at last, the Delta is open and it’s fishing; see the photo of my 18” rainbow caught on Sunday when I simply had to drive back down there and try it.

Thanks again to the Board for supporting this conservation event with Utah Reclamation Mitigation & Conservation Commission. A special thanks to Bruce for all he’s done over the years to reach this end. And many thanks to Katie and Gene Cannarella for hauling all the stuff to Utah Lake, to Pat Ronneburg and Robert Trim for helping staff the booth, to Bill Quapp for making our Willow Gathering poster for the booth, to the BFF tyers Holly Badger and Fred Jepsen and Jim Banas, and HCFF tyer Gene Cannarella. And to my sweet old Afghan Hound Django who was our booth mascot!
